| For any child to become communicative, he/she must be immersed in language. It does not matter if the language is French, Spanish, American Sign Language, or Picture Symbols. The child must see/hear the language used by adults and peers in the environment. The natural immersion of language is the missing link as to the reason most children who use augmentative communication do not become fluent.
