Learning to Use AugCom

One of the most important components of learning to use an augmentative system of communication is modelling! Whatever system is agreed upon must be used when communicating to the child. For example, when you ask a nonverbal child a question, "Where are your shoes?" then you should put the "Where" on the core page and "shoes" on a fringe page. Then you can verbally ask the question but also Say "Where shoes?" using the augcom device.

By the others using the device you are incorporating, you are modeling how to use it for the child who is nonverbal.
