Scripted Language for AugCom

When teaching communication and language skills to someone who is just beginning to use AAC, you may need to Script, Model, and Practice.

For example, The Pledge of Alligiance occurs everyday in public schools so that would be an ideal time to implement this strategy. Put phrases of the Pledge on an augcom device and model pressing the buttons during the official pledge. After modelling a few days, encourage the child to participate by pressing the buttons.

Other scripts can include:

1. preschool songs for younger children
2. carrying materials from the classroom to the office
3. prayers at home and church
4. ordering food
